/GUIDE FOR ORGANIZERS — EVENT MAPS
The map is the app.
Make it work offline.
For an outdoor festival, choose event map software that downloads to attendees' phones and works without data, lets your team build and update the map quickly, and connects the map to friends, schedules and sponsors. Expo floor-plan tools are built for indoor halls and booths; festival app platforms bundle a map inside a branded app. FindTribe is a free-to-join festival map platform: upload a site plan or describe the venue, AI drafts the map for your team to review, and attendees get the map offline, plus friend locations and messages over Bluetooth relays or LoRa pods when a path connects them.
What to look for
Eight questions to ask any map vendor.
- Does the map download to the phone and keep working with zero bars?
- Can you build it from your existing site plan, and how long does that take?
- Can your team update pins during the event, such as a moved stage time or a closed gate?
- Does it show attendees their friends and a shared meeting point, or only the venue?
- Can sponsors and vendors get a place on the map with measurable results?
- Does it mark water, medical, lost-and-found and exits clearly?
- Who owns the attendee relationship, and are attendee locations kept private?
- What does it cost to start, and is there a separate app to build and publish?
The landscape
Three kinds of event map tools.
Event map software falls into three broad groups. They overlap, but each starts from a different problem.
| Category | Examples | Starts from | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expo and floor-plan tools | ExpoFP, Mappedin, Jublia AI Maps | Indoor halls, booths, wayfinding | Trade shows and conferences |
| Festival app platforms | Aloompa, Appmiral, Woov | A festival or multi-event app with a map inside | Festivals with an app budget |
| Festival map platform with offline friends | FindTribe | An outdoor venue map attendees download, with friends and messaging on top | Festivals, races, fairs and stadium events |
How FindTribe maps work
From site plan to live map.
Start with your venue plan. Upload the site plan or describe the venue, and AI drafts the map; your team reviews it before publishing. In the app, maps can also be built by hand in the Design Studio, by voice or text with AI Map Builder, or from a photo of an existing venue map with Map From Image.
Add stages, artists, schedules, vendors and sponsored spaces. During the event, update markers and information as the day unfolds; editors can work alongside the map admin. Afterward, review crowd flow and snapshots to plan the next event. Organizers also get crowd heatmaps and kiosk views.
Attendees activate the event before the gates and the map downloads to their phones. They see invited friends on a private map, drop meeting points with bearing and distance, and can message over Bluetooth relays or LoRa pods when data fails. Private events can use a password-protected Event map that guests open by QR code.
